Raymond Ning

Dr. Raymond Ning joined Hannover Re in August 2025. He is currently Director, Underwriting and Claims Services, of Hannover Re Hong Kong branch. Prior to joining Hannover Re, Dr. Raymond Ning held the position of Chief Underwriter of Hong Kong and Taiwan market in Munich Re. He also worked in Swiss Re Asia as the Underwriting Vice President, and Prudential Hong Kong Limited as the Senior Underwriter for many years. Before his career in the insurance industry, Dr. Raymond Ning worked in the Department of Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine, Queen Mary Hospital, the University of Hong Kong.
Dr. Raymond Ning graduated from Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, the University of Hong Kong with a doctorate degree in Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine. He is a Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI), an Associate, Reinsurance Administration (ARA), and the President of Hong Kong Underwriting and Claims Association (HKUCA).

Gary Miles

Gary began his underwriting career in Canada. He has over 25 years of experience in individual underwriting Life and Living Benefit products. He has worked for both a reinsurer and a direct company during his career. His international insurance experience involves working in the Bahamas, Singapore, Dubai and Hong Kong. Gary is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI) and a Fellow, Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU).

Dipali Jawalkar

Dr. Dipali Jawalkar is the Head of Underwriting and Claims, Life & Health for Asia Pacific region for Partner Re since joining in September 2024. Dipali joined Partner Re after having worked in RGA for 11 years, with 9 years out of the Hong Kong office. Prior to joining RGA, Dipali worked for Munich Re and an international insurer in India.
Dipali has around 20 years’ experience in life and health reinsurance and insurance for various markets in Asia, spanning management, technical underwriting, product development, and claims. Her expertise lies in fostering business by building innovative underwriting solutions, utilization of data analytics and behavioral science, simplification of processes, and driving deeper engagement with clients.
Dipali received a Bachelor of Ayurved Medicine and Surgery (B.A.M.S.) degree from Pune University, and a Masters in Hospital and Health Administration (M.H.A.) from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai.

Simon Pepper

Simon is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) and has more than 30 years of experience in the life insurance industry with a strong background in underwriting, claims, product development and marketing for direct insurers and reinsurers in Europe, Middle East and Asia. Simon attained a BSC (Hons) in Biochemistry from Liverpool University.

Detloff Rump

Since January 2024 Dr. Detloff Rump is the Chief Medical Officer Asia for Manulife. He studied in Germany and Switzerland and graduated with a doctorate degree in Medicine from the Technical University in Munich. He also holds an Executive MBA from Lingnan University, Hong Kong and a LLB Honors (Common Law) degree from Anglia Ruskin University, UK. Perhaps an indicator as to what he thinks about life-long learning. Dr. Detloff is also qualified as a personal trainer.
Liver and working in Hong Kong for over 20 years, he knows the odd things about how the insurance industry ticks, both locally and regionally. Detloff has also strong ties (former president and currently Acting General Secretary) with ICLAM for a quarter of a century, planning and preparing international conferences on Insurance Medicine. He is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Institute for Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF).
Privately he likes conquering the heights of Hong Kong's Country Parks and is a keen skier (obviously not in Hong Kong). Loving speed, he also follows Formula One (and according to his wife and Hong Kong police, he drives way too fast). He also has a few guitars to torture the neighborhood. Detloff's three children are in their thirties and live happily in Australia.

Alicia Menéndez

Alicia counts with over 25 years’ experience within top-class organizations, defining underwriting and reinsurance strategies, establishing strategic partnerships and innovative propositions. Proven global digital acceleration & transformation leader, with focus on customer experience and operationalization of multichannel solutions and propositions. Previously, Alicia was Global Head of Underwriting Experience at Chubb Life, the Chief Underwriting Officer at Triangle Life out of Bermuda and Chief Underwriting Officer for HSBC Life in Hong Kong, ultimately responsible for HSBC underwriting policy, omni-channel underwriting journeys and underwriting and reinsurance strategies to drive growth.

Before that, Alicia held the Chief Underwriter position at Transamerica Life Bermuda, leading their HNW Underwriting teams globally, was the Global Chief Underwriter for PartnerRe and Chief Underwriter and Head of Claims for RGA in Iberia. She held International Senior Underwriting roles in Europe, Canada and Asia.
Alicia completed the Metaverse Executive Program at ISDI, holds a Global Executive Master in Digital Business from ISDI, and an Executive MBA from IE Business School. She serves in the Advisory Board of the Pacific Insurance Conference and the Advisory Board of the Global Insurance Forum.
